I have an external firewire drive that I formatted and now it can be seen in Disk Management as fine but it cant be seen in my computer. It just doesnt show up. Im thinking maybe the Master Boot REcord became corrupt.
On the Macs, theres a tool to fix this but I cant find a way to do it in Visat.

    any ideas?

    thanks!

When I did the format, it asked to assign a letter but since I am always plugging in a bunch of drives in different orders to this computer, I thought giving it a hard letter assigned would be a bad thing. I just basically did the delete partition thing and reformatted it but said not to assign a letter. Is that my problem, and if so, then when would you want to NOT assign a letter. I didnt think the other drives had hard letters assigned, I thought it just depended on the order I plugged them in.

Try assigning a letter and see if thats the problem, you can always remove it later.

I know i've had a similar issue (just not with an external hdd), and had to assign a letter manually, then my problems were solved.
