I recently set up 2 bookshelf monitors for movie watching, is there such media player that can simulate surround sound effect?

    Not true surround sound no.

Some systems add an echo to make it sound less like the sound is coming from the speakers, and on some things it works, but I've always found that approach to be more distracting than helpful.
