    Hey guys,

So i own a sz38GP, running xp (thank god). Originally, i was using the xp logon system (for about a year and a bit), then all of a sudden, this god**** protector suite QL takes over, and wont let me revert back to the classic windows logon. I've tried changing the settings through the vaio control panel but it wont let me.

I've isolated it down to this PSlogon.dll file but i cant remove it cause its always in use. The protector suite logon is a pain in the ***, especially when im trying to run windows task manager.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers

I always reformat the drive and get rid of the pre-installed OS, as it is always loaded with the brands bloatware, eating up system resources and slowing the system down.

The best (but not the quickest) solution is to reinstall Windows XP (you can even slipstream the SP3 into the installation CD and have XP SP3 out of the box).

    Maybe try this...

In start menu, type control center, right-click on it and choose "run as administrator". Click on settings, and then click on system settings below that. Under the 1st tab (logon), check "standard windows logon", and click OK.

    Hope that helps!

    Ah, gotcha..

    C:\Program Files\Protector Suite QL\ctlcntr.exe

Try running that app, and then choose settings, then system settings, then select standard windows logon.

From my experience, reinstalling the OS usually causes many of the apps to not work correctly, or at all. I usually backup up my files to another drive, and then reformat and reinstall the OS fresh.

Yeah it will, all of them. You need to back them up to another partition or drive.

What's suite QL anyway? I have XP and never heard of it.

UPEK Protector Suite QL is basically a fingerprint & password management utility. It allows you to use a fingerprint sensor to log-on to Windows or to recall other passwords.

It's neat, but it delays boot-up and resume from sleep times by around 10+ seconds on my notebook. Even worse if used in conjunction with TPM hardware and software.
