I got my laptop with pre installed windows xp professional. I think there was also a partition on the hd set for the windows.

however, i decided to format the whole hd, delete all the partitions and install a fresh copy of windows xp home.

the problem is that whenever i boot my computer now, it comes to the screen where it asks which windows (home or pro) do i want to start. If i go in to pro, it gives me and error because i deleted it. How do i get ride of the windows professional fully from my computer so i dont get that screen on boot up any more ??

    thanks

    dan

Open the Boot.ini file on your c:\ . It's a hidden file, so you'd have to enable viewing hidden files.
Then, delete the line which contains the OS which you've deleted(which would be pro, in your case). Be careful, and don't delete anything else. That should do it.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, and then click on the boot.ini tab and click on check all boot paths, apply then restart.
