I have an Allen & Heath Xone:42 mixer which has a built in USB soundcard to enable me to record my mixes with programs such as Sony Soundforge & Audacity.

This soundcard runs into my laptop (Dell XPS M1710) via USB cable, and subsequently enables me to record albeit at a very low volume level.

I have already turned up the input volume in audacity to max and still the mix is quiet when i play it back. I have to turn the sound up to get it to a good volume and the music counds supressed.

I have tried going to control panel>sounds>properties to see see if i could turn it up there but unlike all the others there is no tab for "levels", only "general" and "advanced".

Is there any other way i can increase the input levels from windows?

p.s the only control i have over the volume from the mixer is the gain, and that is not suitable to use as a volume meter.

    thanks in advance.
