I have no idea on how to install my winXP on my brand new Freedos MSI340 Laptop (No OS installed) :( can anyone help me. i have my genuine cd here. And i don't want to expend money anymore on technicians, i have my drivers here but i have no idea what to do first.

My first attempt failed. I sucessfully ran the winXP installation wizard but at the middle of the installation it said it can't detect my Hard Disk. What should i do so it can detect my hard disk?

    Could you clarify some things?

    1. What do you mean by middle of the installation? During the file copy procedure or before?
    2. Do you have an option in BIOS to set up the HDD from sata to compatible?

If your BIOS has the option to switch from AHCI to IDE, select IDE and you'll have no problems. This is the easiest way, hope you have that option.

in the BIOS see if there is an option for: "Drive 0: SATA-0" drive is set to "ON"

    Go to "SATA Operation":
Your system probably came set to "RAID Autodetect" - THIS SETTING CAUSES YOUR SYSTEM TO GO INTO AN IDE LOOP AND DOESN'T ALLOW IT TO FIND YOUR FACTORY INSTALLED SATA DRIVE.

CHANGE THE SATA OPERATION SETTING TO "COMBINATION/AHCI" (if that is available)

Reboot - make sure that the boot sequence is set to CD rom before HD and make sure that the reinstall CD is in the drive. Setup will load, hit enter to reinstall XP. Your HD should now be detected and you should see the licensing agreement.

I'm confuse, i'm really sorry, this is what the BIOS looks like

    in the MAIN

    Primary IDE MASTER [Hard Disk]
Secondary IDE MASTER [ATAPI CD ROM]

    in the BOOT

    BOOT Settins configuration
    Boot device priority
    -1st boot device CD/DVD
    -2nd boot device SATA :pM-WDC
    -3rd boot device Network

Option 1: Go into BIOS, change the SATA mode to compadibility.
Option 2: Use nlite to slipstream the XP SATA drivers.
