I just got my new Dell XPS L521X and I have all the Nvidia and Windows updates installed but when I try to install Windows 8 it aborts it after it has gotten all the way through the download and as far as it looks almost all the way through the install process. I read somewhere that it might have something to do with the Nvidia chip but I just got this laptop today so I have no idea. Thanks :)

How are you going about the install? There could be something wrong with the install package you're using.

If you believe or surmise it is a bug with the NVidia chip/driver you have, you can try uninstalling the driver you currently have and then let Windows use the built in, default driver for it until after you've installed Windows 8, then try updating the driver.

Which updates do you have W7 or W8 and what Nvidia drivers are you using? You didn't mention that bit of info that might be helpful to know. And is that laptop default with W8 installed on it? And when you mean today what day is that? Are you sure your getting the right drivers from Nvidia for the video card?

I'm guessing "today" was in relation to his post date - Feb 27th (two days ago).

OP - aside from my first response, where did you read that it could be the fault of the NVidia driver/chip? And what happens with your Windows 8 install exactly? Does it simply freeze?
