The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    How to keep ClearType on with VNC

    Edit: Never mind. It was the VNC sever turning ClearType off, not Windows itself. Unchecked the option "Desktop - Disable user interface effects" and it's not happening any more now.

    I'm VNCing into my Win 7 box (TigerVNC server). Every time I connect ClearType is off and text looks terrible. I can turn it on which does work. But every time after desktop is loaded it's off again. Any way I can keep it on?
