Let me begin by saying that the fact that I know how to turn on my laptop still makes me proud. I don't know where to post this so I am trying here. I have difficulty watching news clips, video clips, etc. on my laptop. My husband says it is because it is not downloading fast enough. When I try to watch them it stops to catch up. This is annoying and I want to know if their is a way to fix it.

Can you let us know exactly what type of network you have at home? If you could post the make and model of the router, the computers accessing the network, and the wi-fi cards they use, that would help us diagnose the problem.

I have internet explorer and use DSL but the slowest dial up. I just woke my husband up and he agreed to call and have it upgraded next month if I would let him sleep. Thank you to all of you. I told you I am helpless when it comes to these things.

He'll tell you anything to go back to sleep. Thats how we are.

"Yeah yea, whatever, I'll upgrade it next month, next week, next year, whatever. Just let me go back to sleep."

It reminds me of the days when I spent more time staring at the download progress bar than at webpages.

Man, I wish the cable companies and wireless companies get on the ball.

People in japan get twice the bandwidth at half the price we do :(

Japan has crowded cities while the US has wide open areas with country and small urban cities. That's why our prices are higher.

I'm on dial-up right now.. It's all my house can get.. LOL Stupid rural area..

It's hard being at work in the studio with massive gigabit connections that download at 4MBPS at times then coming home to a 2KBPS connection..

Takes me 6 hours to download iTunes when they roll out an update...

    Feel my pain..

But sometime I'm treated to a 4KBPS speed... lmao

might want to look into cellular wan (pcmcia card with ur sim) possibility, this would boost ur connection up to about 300+kb/sec

I just got rid of my dial-up and now use my cell phone to hook to the internet. I went from 24 kb/s to nearly 300 kb/s. I axed my home phone altogether along with my old cellular and dial up bill and break about even.
It adds $25/month to my cell bill. Works great but you have to be able to get the EVDO data signal in your area. I use alltel.
