    Hey guys,

My boottime has lately been really slow. Here is a screenshot of my startup programs. are there any i can get rid of? and are there any programs that can speed up my bootup time?

Thanks. I have a feeling the ones that take up the most time is my outpost firewall and antivirus. I'm not sure though.

Can't really see all the items. It looks like you're using Outpost Firewall, NOD32, Avedesk, Launchy, and Daemon Tools.

I would say you can get rid of Outpost, unless you are doing something requiring a software firewall. I don't know if that'll impact startup times, but I know when I removed Zone Alarm Pro it zipped up my boots.

Post the full list, then we can start taking some away.

Ok, I'd check that guide then. It's actually extremely well written. Though it does say to disable Windows Updates, which I'd recommend not doing. He also says to check the website often. I'd just leave it on let me choose when to install. The impact on boot isn't significant.

I use many of those tools too, though, so I can vouch for them. Good guide, for sure.

I'd also remove daemon unless you need it.

Daemon is pretty lightweight but I have to agree on the disabling Windows Update.

True, but for me anything just sitting there, sucking RAM, and not essential is removed from my bootup list.

Disable Windows Update to be off or notify only. Try a defrag. If you have Diskeeper Premier Pro, do the FragShield option. Do that Dual Core optimization thing with the Throttle and the registry. That is all I can think of right now.

Another option that you currently cannot do, since you don't have it right now, is to use Registry Mechanic, clean your registry and click the System Optimization button. It shaved a ton of time off my bootup. It went from a total of 45 seconds to 15 seconds (From Win logo with the bar going across to Win logon was only 3 seconds!).

    How about... ALL OF IT.

Except for Apoint (for touchpad), QuickTouch (preinstalled by your laptop manufacturer, it looks like) and any firewall software you're running.

To go along with what LIVEFRMNYC said,CCleaner is a good "free" product,it showed me alot of programs that didn't need to startup when I booted my computer.
