    How to open .dmg file?

    Just downloaded a .dmg file on my Windows XP PC. If it matters: its the iPhone SDK App Development Program. I cant open it to install it, can anyone help?

    Thats a file extension that I think is only for Mac

    Oh, i didnt realize it was for Mac. I dont know to much about Macs, so i guess thats why, no wonder ive never heard of it.

    Anyway, is there anyway to open it in Windows? Like Converting or something? Thanks

    Ok, well i tried opening it in Daemon and it didnt work. I dont see anything about converting filenames or anything... Maybe im just tired and cant figure anything out... i dont know.

    Even if you can mount the DMG file, you can't use its contents. It is mac only software. Save your time and give up. Then look for a windows version of the software.

    There is no point in you trying to expand a DMG image, unless you're planning to burn it onto a CD/DVD to use on a Mac. However, if you want to do that, you should simply copy over the entire DMG file onto the disc, as OS X can mount images with a double click.

    If you're wondering why the DMG and all its contents will not work with Windows, it's because it's compiled for a different OS and Kernel. The OS X Kernel is significantly different from the Windows NT Kernel, and so it will not work.

    Yeah, .DMG is for Mac OS X, and the iPhone SDK is Mac OS X Leopard-only. Even I can't use it (on Tiger) :p.
