Anybody ever used this software? Somebody suggested it to me. I want to know if somebody experienced it already?

I've used freeramxp pro, and it works well. The UI is a little basic, and it is very small. Overall, it does what it says...frees/optimizes RAM.

Hi aigle,
Whenever I have used that optimizers (I don't know which) I wasn't satisfied. The main problem was that I had too much FREE RAM. I mean those optimizers move things from RAM to virtual memory, and that means disk access - two of them - once to move it to disk, and once back. That is like 1000 times slower than leaving it in RAM. Statistically it is better to leave WIndows decide when to move the ram contents. In my opinion the best thing would be to have as much as possible in ram - loaded once and then accessed when needed. I have problems making windows to load and leave things in ram. It is already too optimized for me.
The different story is if you have very litlle ram on your disposal, then those thingies might come in handy, but I really doubt it. Maybe putting some unneded service or dll to disk, but it so small difference to be noticed. Otherwise it is a more damage than benefit.
The whole MEM optimizing story sounds a bit suspicious to me. I know for quite a few techniques that can be found on Internet - like virtual memory disabling with large amounts of RAM, registry editing for prefetch flags, cleaning prefetch folder, memory optimizing and defragmenting... All bullsht in my humble opinion. So called XP myths - check here.
But you could Defragment disk and defragment pagefile.sys too, that would probably help you more than a mem optimizer. And did you think how much a mem optimizer takes RAM? Maybe more than it frees.I'd just forget the whole thing. If it is so good, it would be everywhere. My personal opinion of course.
