Google'd to no avail. I have a hard drive on my pc which is dedicated to media and would like to pin it to my windows 7 taskbar having its own icon. I don't want it grouped with windows explorer or in quicklaunch. Anyone know how?

Try this and see if it will do what you want.

    1. Find explorer.exe and create a shortcut to it on your desktop.
    2. Rename the shortcut to something else i.e. "Drive C"
    3. Right click and select properties and in the Target: windows enter "C:\windows\explorer.exe /e,C:" without the quotes. Substitute your drive leter for C:.
    4. Change your ICON while you are here if you want.
    5. Click OK
    6. Right click on this new shortcut and pin it to the taskbar.

After you pin the shortcut you can either delete it from the desktop or save it in a folder for later reference.

    You are done.

or do it the same way you pin the recycle bin to the taskbar, i.e.create a new toolbar, select the HD, show only icon after right click...and you're done.

Nah, I don't want it in the quicklaunch, and the way I set up my icons, I can't center it with my other icons.

This is a little different from the pin a folder to the taskbar trick. Interesting.

You can also use this to 'pin a folder' by slightly modifying the command.

    "C:\windows\explorer.exe /e,c:\foldername" or
"C:\windows\explorer.exe /e,c:\foldername\subfolder", where c: is the drive with the folder you want to pin. Without the quotation marks

Sort of obvious but you get the idea.

Edit: This is not the same as the "pin a folder to the taskbar" 'surfasb' mentioned in couple of posts back. I don't have time to explain how to do that at this time.

I don't even use Quicklaunch, although I know there's a way to 'get it back'.
