I would recommend leaving it and removing the icon if that bothers you. You're going to find sites that just don't work with FireFox.

I wouldn't remove it either. I don't like it but I keep it just in case. There are alot of things like windows update that do require IE. FF does have an extension for IE.

If you really want to remove it, go to add/remove programs-->add/remove windows components-->uncheck IE

Even if you uncheck IE, it will still be installed on your computer because IE is integrated into Windows. Without IE, I don't think Windows would be able to run.

Another suggestion if I may, I keep I as the default then use the firewall to block it. Should some spyware get your machine and use the default browser to get out, it will be blocked.

That's very clever indeed. The free version of FlashGet, for example, has such annoying pop ups, which use the default browser.

you def. DON'T want to delete IE, windows won't work without it. as others have already stated, just delete the icon as some sites will ONLY work with IE, updates for example. I deleted IE a few years back thinking it was no biggie, worse mistake ever.

I tried it. It never worked, IE was still there, and I lost calaculator, paint, and WMP.

lol @ MGS2392 :D But yeah, if it bugs you just hide the shortcut because I use Firefox but sometimes websites require stuff used in IE so keep it :)

Use the "IETab" extension within Firefox if you find a site that does not work with FireFox. It's easy to use and will allow instant access to FireFox hating sites, even Windows update works with the IEtab.

As far as removing IE, everyone is right. You can't, it's basically integrated into Windows. You can block it off through a few registry tweaks and removing files...but you'll run into problms eventually nad feel as though you crippled the OS. Remove all basic access to it (hide its folders, delete icons, etc.) and be done with it.
