I found this icon on my toolbar but can't find it in the uninstall programs. How can I remove it? Should I try reinstalling it and then removing it?

Someone please help, the icon is so irritating!

go to start>run and type msconfig

Look in the last tab for anything quicktime related and untick it. Also go into start>programs>startup and delete any quicktime short cuts.

    Hope that helps.

PS: I hate quicktime/itunes. I use Quicktime alternative which plays quicktime thru windows media player.

download cCleaner-> startup Processes -> zap it or
msconfig -> remove it from startlist or
start quicktime up, uncheck QuickTime symbol in Taskbar option

    cheers ...

As above, I use Media Player Classic and you can choose to use with CCC or K-Lite Mega Codec pack. Saying that, you could download Real and Quicktime alternative on their own. Half the vids on the web are quicktime or real format, so you don't have much of a choice...

No Realplayer for me and I don't use iTunes (though there are alternatives to iTUnes)

although Quicktime is a really annoying program to use (which i hate also). iTunes is one of the best jukebox software out there IMO.

Thanks, that did help. Now I need to do something about the 60 processes that run on startup. I've uninstalled a lot of IBM's software but I don't know how to/what to stop.

That is an excellent tool. How do I stop the process though? I tried "end process" but they're back after reboot. Sorry to sound like such a newbie.

Makes no sense in trying to Uninstall completely. You will eventually run into a website that uses Quicktime plugin, and unless you never give active X control any permission Quicktime will most likely install back in to your pc.

I would just MSCONFIG it from start-up.
