    Hello everyone,

As you can see from the attached picture (a snip of the device manager window), I have this seehcri.sys device/driver sticking around and making a huge mess with the USB ports! This belongs to the Sony Ericsson PC Suite which I had installed.. I don't have this any more and I have un-installed it long back as well.

But this device/driver is still in the computer and I have tried to remove it through various methods as seen on Google but all efforts have been in vain.

I have also has BSOD' because of this.

I have looked in the registry and there are tons of keys belonging to this device/driver lying around, and I have deleted a few.. while the rest I'm not able to delete. The ones I am not able to delete are those that has no value set for the 'default value' or something along that line...

Does anyone have any idea how to remove this permanently? :(

    Thanks in advance.. Cheers.

there is also a little program called Autoruns (from Sysinternals, distributed by Microsoft) that lists the drivers and lets you disable them or completely remove them.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

Well, I did uninstall the PC Suite initially using Revo Uninstaller with the 'advanced' mode! It still didn't help. Couple of months back I had a BSOD because of this darn device/driver and I went through the whole process of removing it manually from the laptop... deleted the files basically from C:/Windows/system32 and other places where I could find them... But, for some reason, it has just 'appeared' again. Though, I still see hundreds of registry entries which I'm still not able to delete.

I haven't tried this.. I'll check this later this evening and see how it goes.

Meanwhile, do you think it will help to install the PC Suite again and Uninstall it using Revo (in advanced mode) followed with a run of CCleaner?!? (though I remember doing this back then...... :( ..)

Thanks again for your messages.. Cheers.

    Update:

I checked with Autoruns and I cannot find the driver in the list there! :(

Where else can I check to see the residual device/drivers from seehcri or how can I get rid of all those registry entries regarding this?

    Thanks

Give a try with the CCleaner registry cleaning option. Make sure to backup your registry when asked to.

    Thanks.

Yeah, I've done this many times before and I did it again yesterday at least just to heed your words... but no, cleaning with CCleaner doesn't do the job!!

You could always hunt down the entries manually, just be extra careful.

Well, I did mention about this in the first post! :)

I can delete only a few items in the registry manually. The rest, I'm not able to... :(

Also, I've searched for associated files in C: and deleted them manually. So basically it's only those in the registry that still remain.... :(

In Device Manager, when you click "View-> Devices by connection," what do all the Unknown devices connect to?

Revo is great. I had a problem installing Java 64-bit. It keeps saying that it was installed but it would not remove. I removed it with Revo Uninstaller Pro used the advanced cleaning and I was able to install it. I then bought the program.
I still can't believe this day and age that some programs make it that you can't uninstall a program. Once you install it you are stuck with it and you can't completely remove it unless you reinstall Windows.

I don't see anything different from what I see when I "view > devices by type".. I've attached a screenshot, if you want to take a look!

At this point, i would do a clean install and install the drivers one by one afterwards and call it a day.

Clean install is your only solution. Make sure you backup your program settings and don't install programs that have terrible installers.

Oh dear! The dreaded clean install.... what I wanted to avoid.

I don't want to do the clean install now.. Don't have the time and also don't have the patience right now to then reinstall all the programs and softwares... :(

I guess I'll just leave it as it is for a while and see what happens... till now nothing major happened other than the annoying interference with other USB devices sometimes.

    Thanks a lot anyway..
