    Hi there,

I got my new laptop yesterday, and on first launch it prompted me to set up a pin and fingerprint via Windows Hello. Great! It worked fine. I then configured windows using phoenix's stickied thread. Just things like disbaling windows defender, and other tweaks within O&O shutup...I did not disbale biometric features. Anyway, I wanted to add another fingerprint today but when i go into sign-in options and try to add another print, the windows hello box setup box just flashes and disappears instantly.

I tried to delete my pin and current fingerprint. Renamed the NGC folder in "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft". Tried reinstalling fingerprint drivers. Nothing works. It lets me setup a pin but the fingerprint setup button just continues to bring up that windows hello box which disappears instantly.

    Any ideas?

are you logged in with a Microsoft Account or local account. If you're logged in with a Microsoft Account (which I hope you aren't), then you'd need to disable the settings in O&O ShutUp10 that have to do with settings synchronizations and whatnot as well then reboot

No I'm logged in as a local account unfortunately.

That's strange, the only reason why the biometrical features would not work is if it was disabled in either Group Policy Editor or O&O ShutUp10

Try enabling it again in O&O Shutup10 then disable it and reboot

If it didn't work still, try clearing your pin, re-adding it, then re-enrolling your fingerprint

No luck unforunately. Even tried reverting all the o&o settings, doing an inplace upgrade of win10 to hopefully restore anything missing.
The weird thing is, it works fine if I create a new local user account and do that. Is there anyway I can create a new account and migrate all my stuff over?

Update - More testing. It only works if i create a standard user local account. If i switch that account to an Administrator type, it exhibits the same issues

Update 2 - FIXED IT! I had the EnableLUA regkey set as I was fed up with windows prompting me everytime I wanted to make a change to a directory. Undid that and it's working

Hopefully this helps others in the same boat

The highlighted red bold text above literally solved me endless amounts of spinning my wheels. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!

(And seriously, microsoft, you couldn't think either to publish this or to make a simple dialog box that pops up saying "you have to enable UAC just for the setup (or change) of fingerprint scans?")
