Can anyone help me! I’ve installed windows 7 on my laptop and I want to revert back to the factory installed Windows Vista. I was hoping to use the system restore, as all the backup files still exist on my computer in a separate partition. However, as Windows 7 is installed, the program for executing such a system restore is no longer there.

So in short, how would I get my computer restored to the factory default. Can I download the system restore program perhaps?

    Thanks for any help.

Remember when you first turned your shiny, new laptop on and it said 'Would you like to make backup disks now'? You should have said 'yes'. Can you reach the backup by pressing some sort of key when you first turn it on, before W7 boots?

Hi, thanks for the responses. My laptop is an HP tx2530ea.

I cant figure out how to run the restore program from the bios, so if anyone could help, that would be fantastic.

    Cheers.

Can I ask why you want to revert to Vista?

Two reasons really. Firstly, I installed windows 7 from a single license DVD that I had already used on my desktop, and as such I don't have a second license, which makes me feel uneasy. Secondly, I have been having some problems with the hardware of the laptop and i want to restore the factory settings to see if it is a software compatibility issue.

If you had disc's then user those, if you did not and were never prompted then you'll have a recovery partition (common on a lot of HP's)

    1) Rec Partition:- Keep tapping F10 (most hp's) to enter recovery mode. OR
Click Start -> All Programs -> HP Tools -> HP System Recovery

    2) Create a restore CD:- You should have a HP Recovery CD Creator installed.
