How can I save current windows state? - Windows 7 Help Forums

In the above post, they mention something called a "virtual machine" in it and I thought and I don't see what virtual machines have to do with it. I thought a virtual machine was something you can use to run mac os on windows. I also have concerns that my thinkpad yoga might not be able to handle "virtual machine"

Basically I'll open maybe 6 windows I need for a certain task and I don't want to have to go through the hassle of finding them and opening them again when I want to resume the task. I just want a keyboard shortcut to save the desktop in a certain state, be able to close the windows, and then the next day resume that state even though I have closed those windows.
