I had just recently purchased my new laptop last week and installed all my programs and did a live update. I thought I had downloaded SP1 and installed it via Windows Update but I just received a new update (I have it set so I have to manually install) and it was Sp1 and now its installing. What's up with this? How do I check if I have Sp1 already or not?

Just copy a large file, if it's painfully slow then you don't have SP1. ;) :p
Kidding aside, right click computer, system properties will tell you. :)

Or... Win-Pause (Windows key + Pause key) is a nice quick shortcut.

(On some laptop keyboards, Pause requires the Fn key.)

Hmm I guess I didn't have it installed and just installed it. Why did it take so long for Windows Update to install it when it came out last week?

Pause is often on the same key as Break... usually near Scroll Lock and/or Num Lock.
