How to set "show processes from all users" as default in Task Manager ?

use process explorer instead?

Of course, that won't help if you want to run it using the ctrl-shift-esc shortcut... -

no it wont stay at default. by default, you should only see the processes you have started yourself. the rest belongs to the system and shouldn't be needed to check out/kill etc.
what he ment was to press the windows key to open the startmenu, type in "taskmgr", and then, instead of pressing enter to start the taskmgr, hold ctrl and shift, and THEN press enter (with those other two pressed, too). that way, you start an application as administrator, and see all processes.
but as i said before, by default there should be no need to see them all. there are normally other more clean ways to handle problems with processes that belong to the system.
is it just a wish, or do you have a certain need for it, that repeats itself daily, or hourly, or what ever? -
I like to have full controll and see everything that is happening...maybe an obsession.. ...can you forgive me ? -

yeah i can, but then i can't help you
except getting used to only see your stuff and trusting the system, obviously.. -
disable uac, voila

I have UAC disabled and it always shows all processes. -

it might work, yes. it's the ultimative bruteforce attack, but as it should make any useless process full admin, taskman should show up with all processes.
way to get other users unsecured, just out of their curiousity to "want to see everything", but well.. i'm powerless against the darkforce, i guess -
You and your precious stupid UAC

you and your "i want full control" hype
i have full control. but in my case, my computer has control over my apps, not the other way around
but i know enough people that drive without seatbelts, feeling more free and more "under control" of their car that way, so turning off uac is comparably unimportant. who cares if your pc dies? it's better than a car accident, espencially with others involved..
one thing to warn the OP: once you disabled UAC, there is no guaranteed way back for enabling it. no application is guaranteed to work 100% anymore afterwards (most will, most likely, work as before. but they did so without uac as well).
problem is, turning off uac disables app virtualisation => settings, tempfiles, registry info suddenly gets written to other locations. turning uac, and thus the virtualisation, back on might put the application in an undefined state, with half settings old, half new, and similar.
so if you want a stable system (unimportant if you want a secure one), remember that turning uac off is a tweak with no turning back. -
People did fine without UAC before.. It doesnt require much knowledge to avoid bucking up your computer.

and you know that, but lie to yourself for feeling good.

indeed, which is why i have it on. i can make errors. the computer can't. he takes away work from me by handling security itself. hence, i'm no retart.
and i'm the admin, which is why he still asks me in cases where he's unsure.
not understanding uac is the main reason people turn it off. not understanding how it makes their life much better actually. you're one of those who don't want to understand. i can accept that. i just want to make sure you don't just post randomly "disable uac" without warnings of the consequences, of which you aren't yourself really aware of.
