I have a few processes that i dont need to start at startup. i dont want to disable them manually by opening up task manager and ending it; i want it to do it automatically.
i disabled the "services" that i thought went along with it, but its still showing up at startup.
-
have you tried msconfig?
-
what processes are you talking about?
-
ehtray.exe
ehmsas.exe
they deal with windows media center which i dont use -
-
oh rofl. i know how nvm. but yea, those arent needed right
what about these, they deal with intel.
igfxtray.exe
hkcmd.exe
igfxpers.exe
i googled them, and certain sites said dont stop it, others said user pref. -
Start --> Run --> "Msconfig" (without the quotations) --> Startup
-
-
You can disable them on startup using msconfig or ccleaner.. but once you open WMC again they will re-appear on your startup list
Been there done that, thats why i stopped using WMC -
yeah... the three main places to check are msconfig, startup folder in start menu, and services, i would say (not that these would be in your startup folder, lol).
-
what about
igfxtray.exe
hkcmd.exe
igfxpers.exe
they are from intel. i googled em, some said dont stop while others said user preference.
and does anyone know what
"InstallDriver Table Manager" from Macrovision Corp.
Its a service. -
Crimsonman Ex NBR member
I use start -> run -> services.msc then I disable whatever.

I'm pretty sure the OP is asking how to stop specific processes at startup, not startup items.
Trying not to hijack this thread, but if you end a process through task manager, will it not start next time you reboot? -
if u end thru task manager, when u reboot it will still be there
and yes, not startup items, startup processes. -
why do i have two
taskeng.exe ;o
i only made one schedule in task scheduler
besides wisptis.exe and snippingtool.exe cuz those deal with snipping tool which i just opened; what else can i get rid of?
p.s. i want RD,minimize, and rainmeter to startup -
I disabled all 3 of them since last install, don't have any problem till now. -
Press ctrl-alt-uparrow to get back to normal. There are probably some other key combos you can press... I don't remember them all. If you turn off hkcmd then you won't be able to do that anymore. I'll bet you can find out what the other programs do by searching Google... I don't remember off the top of my head. I think the "tray" one puts the intel graphics icon in the system tray.

Lol. I turned my laptop off. I'm doing hw. I'll try that though...w/e it does. So it's safe to disable those 3? :O
What if I play a game, will it not function or will it open up them again if it needs it? -
safe to me doesn't mean it's safe to you,
my computer practice may not be equal to yours,
you may use your laptop in some ways that i don't,
you have to try it out on your laptop,
try them one by one,
so if anything happens, you know which process caused the problem. -
