    Hi,
My dad bought a new Vaio SZ ... and he got a downgrade to XP Cd.

So i thought instead of Wasting Vista i could transfer it to my laptop.
Its Vista home premium where as mine is just Basic.

    How to do that?

Pls let me know if its a Legal process.

nocturnal, call 1800microsoft and unregister it from the old pc so you can activate it during install on the laptop.

It was an OEM copy so I don't think you can transfer it.

OEM licenses are tied to the machine. you cannot transfer.

Depends on your local law. Here in Germany, there was a court decision that OEM Software may be sold seperately without a machine, so here it would be legal.

Yes, if it's OEM it's tied to the machine...that's why I buy the OS retail and notebook OS'less. Sux.
