I rated it 'excellent'. It's quick on it's feet, and has nifty features like web accelerators and web slices.

It's good, but some of those "nifty" new features can be a pain in the tuckus when I'm trying to just do some good old-fashioned surfing.

I gave it a good rating. It's better than IE7 but still not as good as Firefox or Opera. You still have to end an address with .com or it defaults to your search provider.

I rated it very good...if they implemented a good password manager, I'd rate it excellent. I am glad they got the security bit right this time...though, I guess, only time will tell...

Edit: I do like the idea of the accelerators, web slices I have not found much use for.

I thought the reason IE sucked was cause most viruses were engineered for it. I thought firefox and Opera were better cause they had a different source code.

I ditched FF for IE8 too. IE8 has worked flawless for me.

Given the 64 bit version a good test drive...but without Adobe supporting Flash in a 64 bit browser, I will need to downgrade to the 32 bit. (my only complaint so far)

I ditched FF the moment I first used Internet Explorer 8. Firefox was horribly laggy and slow, and gave me a whole lot of problems. I had read about these problems on the Internet, that these haven't yet been fixed, but I still used it because I worshiped it. But now I've ditched it, and for good. I've been trying Opera as well, and it looks like the best of the bunch by a long mile, but let me use for a few more days to say something for sure.

This InPrivate mode is what is commonly known as 'p0rn mode' right? If I am not mistaken, then it is only for particular situations/ cases and not for general use (of course one could use that mode all the time). So, the way that link describes blocking ads will only work in that specific mode and not during general browsing. Am I correct in this?

    I rated it excellent.
Definitely the best IE so far.

Doesn't forget to shut down the process ar Opera does for me and quicker than Firefox (in terms of starting up, I did not compare the speed at which websites load)

Every Browser has its pros and cons, but with IE8 I went back to IE :)

The best browser out there and it doesnt randomly crash like the previous version.

    Fast, stable and nice UI.

I gave it a 'Very Good'.
I didn't give it 'Excellent' because of the lack of Ad-Block Plus, and how easy it is to pick up nasty things when surfing with IE.

However, saying this, I still believe it is the best IE to date. Fast, reliable, and easy-to-use (even for beginners, I've noticed).

Very nice but still no spell checker or third party spell checker that works decently in IE8. No download manager. A little lag when typing in the forums.. at leaset on my XP setup (no addons default IE8). Also, I have had a few occasions where I had to use the task manager to kill a freezing IE8; although this is rare now and not near as bad as the beta IE8 (This never ever happens in FF.. FF will always shut itself down on a crash). I think If MS would have just included spell check & a DL manager this would have destroyed FF but as usual, they don't listen and implement user feedback and I know these two items were requested hugely.

I rate it below average. I agree it is an improvement above older IE's, but it has problems like still not auto logging in on websites, no spell checker, and other issues.

No, you can block ads without using InPrivate mode, however when you start IE the option is turned off by default, so you need to manually switch it to On. You can also modify registry and add a key value to set the option On by default.

So, using InPrivate is not necessary in this case.

You can use the inprivate filter without going inprivate mode. Just enable it by clicking the button on the bottom of the status bar.
