Guys, Google did this before and does again. It gives you 2GB to your current plan (usually 15GB) today ("Safer Internet Day") just for visiting LINK and checking your security of Google Account!
IMPORTANT! There is NO need to add your phone number or backup email! Just press Skip button.

Update: I just noticed that this runs through the 11th...
"Please note: To receive this offer, you must successfully complete the Security Checkup by 11 February 2016. This bonus storage offer does not apply to Google Apps for Work or Google Apps for Education accounts."
I also logged out of Google and logged back in to get my updated storage size to show... -
I'm in EST.

I didn't check the before size, I assumed I had the default 15GB, but now that I think about it, I might have done a promo like this a few years in the past to get that 17GB total
There are posts to that Google Drive blog entry that indicate others aren't seeing the bump yet either, with an answer from google...:

Just wait a little guys, it will be added within one month. Also you will be notified by the email."
I haven't gotten the confirmation email yet, but I did get the confirmation when I completed the "Security Check"... did you get that?Last edited by a moderator: Feb 11, 2016 -
No email yet for "security check" Maybe that's it. I have 19GB already, but will take every GB I can get. Wish I could get more in Dropbox though.

Done, I now have 17gb.

I have not been able to get my head around online storage, all these websites getting hacked has me worried, I like the idea of being able to access my data anywhere i can get a wifi or cell signal though.

@Tinderbox (UK) I thought the same until today I found uploaded photos on the Drive which I thought I lost due to bad sectors on HDD. These photos are from 2006 and who knows how they appeared on the Drive (and that is the only thing which sits on GoogleDrive by now) so now I plan to upload more photos there. Just in case.

I have found my files on Windows Skydrive, it was saving my document files there for some reason until i stopped it, I always disable Skydrive now.
Microsoft does enough snooping without giving them my documents.

Is the extra 2gb expired as mine only show 15gb, no free 17gb.

when I did, it only showed 15GB at first but when I click on Upgrade storage it showed 17GB. So it takes a bit time to update the current GB you've on the home page.
Hurry Up! Extra 2GB space for Google Drive for free! Official.
