I already have Vista Ultimate, should I order my notebook without an OS?

If I do order it witout an OS would simply popping in the Vista disk be all I needed to do? I would really prefer not to pay for a brand new copy if I dont need to.

Did your Vista Ultimate come with another laptop? If so, I don't think you can install multiple copies with one CD-key. (Right? Confirmation here?)

Yes, as long as the copy you have isn't a brand OEM copy (ie the discs that come with Dells).

It depends on what laptop you're getting, and if activating every time you reinstall matters or not. :)
Dell and HP pre-activate their OS's, so you never need to bother with it if you have to reinstall. I really don't know about other manufacturers.

Im gettering a Sager NP5793 if that helps in anyway. My Vista came with an HP desktop. Im fine with having to activate whenever I reinstall it, but I doubt that will be often.

Since it came with an HP desktop you are out of luck, you can't use it.

The disk that came with your HP laptop is an OEM reinstall disk that will only work on the computer it came with. Sorry, but you'll have to buy another copy of Windows for your Sager.

Well no you still can use the CD from the Desktop. But you will need your own register key for it and then you will have to right it down. Its a lot more work like that.

Just buy it with it installed from the company.

You can buy an OEM copy on Newegg, they are cheaper than retail.

Buy an OEM copy from newegg or just order the computer with the operating system installed. Unfortunately, OEM keys (like the one that came with your HP desktop) are tied to the computer that came with it.

I don't believe they would send you a laptop without any OS.
