I did a fresh install of windows Vista today and tried to activate with Microsoft, but Vista is still not activated. I need your help and experience, please. Below is what I posted earlier:

Just as I thought, I had to use the phone and talk to some one to activate Vista. Has anyone here successfully do this automated phone thing without having to talk to a person in the end?. Can you believe it? It's still not activated. Oh, man. I don't know what to do now. When I the activation lady asked if I am installing for the first time, I said yes ( it's actually the second time). She asked for the make and model of the computer and the key. She said please wait for two minutes while my computer is generating the activation code for you. Then she talked and I entered the numbers and clicked next. The next screen actually said activation was successful. But it was not. Vista is still not activated not my laptop

Does this sound normal? Does it take two minutes to generate these numbers? I don't remember being asked for the make and model and the key the first time I did it. What was your experience the first or second time? Please share. I am afraid they have my computer excluded from activation now.

    Many thanks.

If I were you I would simply call them up again, tell them what happened, and ask for a new key.

I had to get a new key when I first installed Vista, because it wouldn't validate. It just kept saying 'invalid key', or whatever. I got Vista off MSDN AA, so I just mailed the IT administrator at my university, told him about my problem, and asked for a new key, which I promptly got. So, not entirely the same case, but I guess it shows that things like that can happen.
