My Windows Experience Index is still only 4.5... I did a fresh install yesterday, I have 163GB out of 186GB available on my HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon 2600 HD, 4GB of Ram, and a Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 processor.

When I first bought my laptop it had a 4.5 with all that unneeded crap and WOW, etc. on it...

    Here is what I scored:
    Processor : 4.9
Memory (RAM) : 4.5 (This is the one I don't get...)
    Graphics : 5.9
    Gaming Graphics : 5.1
    Primary Hard Disk : 5.4

Overall : 4.5!? I did the math and it should be a 5.1!?

Anyone know how I can get this laptop running better, it has no programs on it except CCleaner, Firefox, Frostwire, and the basic window's stuff.

First I Don't Trust WEI as Good Benchmark too :D so don't worry about it and if you want a real benchmark then try PCmark or something similar

Again, WEI is a piece of crap!

Intel machine I'm assuming, likely Santa Rosa. Intels don't manage the memory as well as AMDs, but the processor is faster.

What do you mean you did the math? It takes the lowest score and that is your overall score.

As they say, the bottleneck makes the system.. and, just stick with Futuremark :p

If it makes you happy, my Pentium M 1.8GHz; 1GB PC2700 RAM, 855GM graphics makes:

    Processor : 3.7
    Memory (RAM) : 4.0
    Graphics : 1.9
    Gaming Graphics : 1.0
    Primary Hard Disk : 5.4

And it doesn't say 'Overall'. It says, Base Score: 1.0(Determined by lowest subscore)

Bottom line is, don't trust WEI, though the gaming graphics part makes sense. :D

why not trust WEI? it's quite clearly defined how it's calculated, and what it looks at.

one thing that is sad is that it doesn't care about the amount of ram you have in the system, only about it's performance.

    I still don't understand how a processor that is 1 x 1.8GHz gets a score of 3.7 and a processor that is 2 x 2GHz gets only a 4.9.

You are getting 4.5 because you are running 4 GB on Vista 64 bit as opposed to 32 bit.

If you down grade to 32 bit you should see that score rise.

I believe the 4.5 has to do with RAM clock speed - not the OS.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 with 4gigs of DDR2 800 and get a score of 5.9 on RAM. My RAM score was originally lower with stock 3gigs of RAM. I currently have a WEI of 5.0 (graphics for aero has always been the lowest score on my system). WEI was 5.1 when new but increasing desktop quality seems to have dropped aero score and have not been able to 'break the code' since the change to bring it back up.

WEI tends to grade on a weird curve. It will give a Q6600 a WEI score of 5.9, but my E8400, which is considerably faster, has a faster FSB, and has more cache, only gets a 5.7. Apparently more cores = better than, even if they are slower overall.

I'm sure RAM gets similar treatment.

You will also notice that on Centrino 2 notebooks, even if they are still using DDR2-667 RAM, will have a better RAM score. The new platform manages RAM better.

Also, the X4500 gets a 3.7, and the 9600GT gets a 5.0. That doesn't make sense to me, personally.

Let's just accept it: WEI sucks.
