well Netflix tells me so ... i was trying to install their instant watch movie player when pop came a window telling me that it has detected a problem with Microsoft DRM and needs to reset it.
I canceled the install as i wanted to know first whats it all about.
I have win xp sp2 and havent tweaked/installed any stuff which could mess up DRM.
is it ok to reset the DRM settings? While googling i found that if i do that for netflix then videos from other service like amazon unbox will not play ... i do not have amazon videos but wanted to know if it would affect any other services.

If you have any other subscription services, you will have to log in to their sites to re-download the license information. Otherwise, you'll be fine with resetting it.
It may be a little more complicated than Netflix says, though. When that happened to me, I had to rename the hidden DRM folder in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows. It is a "protected Operating System file" so you'll need to show those files from the Organize|Folder Options menu.
Rename it to something like DRMBackup. Then, go to this site to reset the DRM. It essentially reverts your license info back to new-machine stage...

Follow the instructions, and you'll be good to go. Just note that this procedure took me quite awhile to figure out.
