I downloaded the 120 day trial of XP professional x64.
Correct me if i am wrong.
Microsoft says to install thru the autorun present in the file. I guess it restarts and then installs from there later. So now I can split the empty space of a partition into another partition on which this will be installed.

I need 64 bit drivers for everything. So now i have to download x64 drivers from dell.

I use a USB modem from alcatel lucent, it is broadband but i dont know whether the drivers are 64 bit or not, i have a installation cd but i dont know how to check and the alcatel lucent site isnt helpful at all.

Have fun with x64 XP ... its supposed to be a nightmare. Driver support is probably poor too.

Not everything has to be x64 for a x64 OS. I have lots of x86 (32but) stuff running on my Vista x64 install. Just not everything will work.
