You can couple a anitvirus program and a firewall, for example i couple a norton anti-virus and a Zone-alarm firewall.

just curious, why do think that its not protecting you enough? are you running anything else besides antivirus? how bout a firewall? and then theres Ad-Aware, Spybot, and SpywareBlaster.

well, reason being I never paid money for a antivirus program. With all the hype about Identity Theft, I am some what worried. Reason being, I had an unauthorized use on my card..and I was always careful with my card...I only paid bills online and i fear my comp is not safe....

im not so sure on this but i think an antivirus would have little or nothing to do with that.

besides antivirus, what else are you running? firewall is strongly recommended expecially if you have DSL or cable. although if you are behind a router that should be pretty suffucient. on that link i gave above, there should be another link there with a few free antivirus program. you might want to check those out. but you can always buy as they will probably offer more stuff.

also a pretty good read about keeping your comp more secure:

With all that and a good firewall, you should be fine. Just keep AVG up to date with the virus defintions. AVG is a very good program but if you ever are not sure, go to trend micro and run their free machine scan to get a 2nd opinion. But it sounds like you are pretty safe with the setup you have going now.
