I need a good program that will copy my DVD video to my computer and convert it to WMV or AVI in high quality, with no distortion to the sound or video. No trials, i already have several. I want something to keep.

We live in the revolutionary era of the DVD and that everybody runs like mad for the quality of the videos they watch. But sometimes there are some features on the DVD that you want to separate and the easiest way to do that is to compress them into all kinds of formats with the 11 most popular DVD converter.

If you do not HAVE to convert to AVI/WMV, then use DVD Shrink, arguable the best ripper available. For the newer movies there are other steps to the process that can be found on Google or you can use the ever popular DVD Platinum. To play, just use VLC. By not making another conversion, you can preserve the level of quality you initially ripped and save yourself a lot of time. The only reason I see fit to convert to AVI is for multimedia devices that have limited codecs. My 2 cents...

DVD Fab is about the best there is anymore. You can use it to rip for free then convert with AVI DeMux or AutoGK or you can buy it and access the built in converters.

DVD Shrink or Handbrake can do this and both are free
