    Hello,
I'm running windows 2k (sp4) on my T21 thinkpad notebook.

In a randomaly times, the system is freezed.
when I say freeze , I meen that windows is not responding to any key pressing , the mouse is also freezed, and the sound (e.g songs) is being in loop - of the last ~ 2 seconds.

I have to shut down it manualy (by pressing the power button)

When I looks in the Event viewer, I can see that the last message was this:

"Could not enable interrupts on connected port device \Device\KeyboardClass1."

Nothing wrong with my external keyboard....I'm using it , just fine.

I read that MS optical mouse causes many problems for win 2k users, so I disconnected it , and it is still freezing..

    1. All the drivers are Installed and recognized by the os (windows 2k).
    2. I use MS optical Mouse connected via ps/2 port. (I use usb to ps/2 adapter)
    3. I use external keyboard via the usb port.
    4. I dont use the "stand by" mode

The computer is freezing in a RANDOM times, I can't point to any special software or act of me when this happen.

One thing I can say that it is freezed only while I'm using the computer,
    (using mouse/keyboards and running softwares)

While not in "freezing mode" the computer is working just fine, I'm using usb sticks / digital camera and many more thing...

    Thanks,...

So I'm assuming the computer runs fine when the external keyboard isn't plugged in? I'm just assuming the keyboard might be faulty which causes your computer to react and freeze up.

the computer is fine even the keyboard is pluged-in.
I work with the external keyboard all the time, and it is OK.

My problem is that the computer is freezing at some point, while I'm working on it.
I can't tell the causing software becuase this "freezing" look just random to me,, (no special software or speacial task cuasing it..)

after this , I need to reboot and I continu to work normal, (until the next freezing :( )

I havn't tried to disconnect the external keyboard and work with out it for a while, (but I will)

I wantto point the cuase of that problem, in a systematic way..

When was the last time you reinstalled windows?? If more than 1,2+ years then I would say, reinstall windows.

i would recommend a quick defrag, clean out "junk" files, making sure that u have enough frre disk space. cCleaner is a good free tool for these simple tasks.

    cheers ...
