    I need system restore software for Sony V505EX

    HI, i recently got damged HD in he laptop. (dont know how that could hav happens)

    Anyway i got warranty so they replace my hard drive with a new one. But the thing is that there is no software, and they said they told me that I have to buy system restore software for 40buck something and then they have to charge me 75buck for installing the software for me. That just bull****. I told them why cant they take the software out from the HD, and they said it gonna take longer than ordering the software for me and they will have to charge me 150 for doing that. I was mad even more. He said that I'm paying a 65buck/hr for him to do all those work. I was pissed that i"m getting rip off even with warranty.
    Now i know to never buy warranty ever again.

    So right now my laptop are in the process of returning to me, and i need the system restore. So if any one can upload it to me or have a bit-torrent file for me to dl or something, I would be really appreciate if you would.

    Why don't you have the original CDs that shipped with your laptop? You could use them to restore your OS and software.

    You cannot use someone elses restore CDs for 2 reasons:
    1- the OS is already activated, so cannot be used on 2 different machines.
    2- it is illegal to use someone elses licensed software.

    i may not be understanding your post correctly. it sounds like you either want to:

    1. get an image of your damaged HD and put it on your new HD

    or

    2. get your XP OS cd and other CDs so that you can install an OS and other applications on your new HD

    if you mean '1' above, then i'm not sure how you would do that since the original HD is damaged. it doesn't sound like you can get information off of it.

    if you mean '2' above, then you should have the OS and application CDs from the notebook manufacturer. if the notebook didn't come with the CDs, then you should contact the notebook manufacturer and have them send you the CDs.

    please also note that warranties don't usually cover software especially in terms of re-imaging your drive or reinstalling software on a drive.
