I have a samsung R540 ( Let's call it laptop Y) and I recently changed the hard disk since the previous one failed. I installed windows 7 home premium on it and now I need to install the drivers ( the essentials atleast; network controller, wireless network adapter, etc.) .

    A link would be appreciated :) !!

I found this but I can't seem to understand what's going on on this website.. Download free driver for notebook Samsung R540/SA41/E452 (Windows 7, XP, Vista) << DriverPack Solution

What I need to is to burn the setup.exe's onto a DVD from this laptop ( let's call it X ) and run them and install them on laptop Y .

Download the drivers driectly from the manufacturer's website. I for one don't trust those driver packs, at least if i download the drivers manually form either the manufacturer's, the laptop's or the component's, at least i know there are no unwanted software with those.

Thanks I checked it out and downloaded some of the drivers and burned it on to a dvd. I copied the setup files onto my samsung and when i open it the window pops up showing that the installation is starting but then it just goes away and nothing happens. I opened task manager processes to see if the setup was running but it was a no-show. POO :( !! Great, now I have a laptop with windows 7 , upgraded ram and hdd but no internet access... (No network controller)

Any idea how I can determine whether it's Atheros or Broadcom? I'm not sure which it is but if my memory is serving me right it SHOULD be Atheros..but then again I'm not 100% sure. Should I just give both a try? Could you link me, pretty please ?

If it isn't compatible, it won't install, so you can try install one and then the other.

This was such a ridiculous quick fix... All I did was "Add a new connection" after the setup window randomly disappeared and my WLAN works now ! :)

It's broadcom, for the record :p . Thanks you guys!
