I want to disable Wireless on my Laptop completely

I have a Laptop which I dont want people using the internet on. So I need to disable the Wireless completely so there is no way of enabling it again without me using it.

I know I can just uninstall the wireless drivers, but is there a better way?

For example, when I am not on the laptop the Wireless is completely disabled and cannot be enable in ANYWAY....while I am on the computer I have the option to enable it.

    Is there anything like that?

Physically unplug the card? I mean, there's pretty much always going to be ways to get around software blocks and whatnot.

Set up the other users with guest or standard user user accounts. Then disable the wireless card under device manager. The other users will not be able to re-enable it since a standard user account or guest account won't have the rights to do so.

You didn't say what OS you were using. So I can't be more specific.

you could disable wireless in bios if you have that option and set a bios password, but the other person still could use a usb wireless card if s/he really wants to annoy you :p

    I am on Windows 7.

I heard that BIOS option is not in every laptop, I will have a look and see if I can find it.

make a non-admin account and he can't enable it again. if only you know the admin account, no one will be able to enable it.

Can I hide the admin account somehow, and the windows automatically login to the non-admin account?

the public station configurations i manage are as follows:

it has the admin user, with a password, and the user, in my case called "start kiosk". no need to hide the admin (but it's doable. the logon for the admin is then accessible trough ctrl-alt-del twice at the logon screen).

if you want to define an automatically logged in user, start the command line ([winkey] "cmd" [enter]), then type "control userpasswords2" [enter] into the command line. once you've done that, you can there chose the user you want to auto-logon, and uncheck "users must enter a username and password to use this computer".

Ok, I just created another user and now it cannot be enabled as there is no permission to change stuff in the Device manager.

But, is it possible to use the files, documents, everything, in the NEW USER account?

Because After creating the new USER account, the documents, files, etc, in the ADMIN user are not accessible....

How can I make it so the user has access and can use the files/programs in the USER account?

    Thanks.

Simple. Create a file, save it, log off, log back in and open the file. BTW they will be able to.

this is just normal. let the user access it's files in the local account. if you want to work together, use the public folders c:\users\public

they are made to share work on a computer with multiple users.

Nor should they be able to. As Dave suggested the documents you want to share should be in the shared folder.

Just like Dave said. The public folders are the way to go. It shouldn't take anytime to move em

Whatever you do in windows is useless if the other guy can boot something from cd ..ubuntu live cd or usb ...another windows. Then he'll be able to access wi-fi in a few minutes and your files and probably remove your admin password in windows unless you encrypt the drive

which would be simply fixed by applying the same solution as in windows in the bios:

set an admin password for changing anything in the bios, and set it to only allow boot from other sources as the hdd, when entering the admin password.

they could still replace the hdd.. but then, they could even put in a new wireless card as well haha :)
