Hello Folks!
I'm having troubles playing simple rmvb video files on Windows 7 64 bits.
I own a brand new Sager NP5160 machine (actually a similar one, but built over the same basic hardware from Clevo) and that's my first contact with Windows 7 and 64-bits systems. Further specs on my signature.
I've downloaded K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 32 bit and the 64 Bit (installed both as suggested by themselves), and every video I've tried playing was with really low frame rate.
It seems odd since I've been using this codec pack for years, in weaker pcs, (older versions, of course) and it always have been flawless. Could it be some incompatibility? Any other suggestion of codec packs?
In the mean time, in my Linux dual boot, video playback is fine. I use to have more trouble on Linux than on Windows, in this department.
Any help?

Are you using Media Player Classic Home Cinema in Windows or some other media player?
-
I also have VLC, as an alternative, and the default WMP that I use to avoid at any cost.
Just now I noticed that MPC is not playing the sounds ("failed to find a connectable filter", it said) while VLC plays the sound normally.
But both still gasps on the video playback. -
Could you take a screenshot of that 'failed to find a connectable filter' message?
Post MediaInfo of the file if you can.
Also, open the file in MPC-HC and tell me what is listed in the menu: Play-> Filters.
Lastly, change video renderer from EVR-CP to Haali or madVR. -
ok, I'll take on file as example but it appears to happen on files of different origins.
(although it was not the main problem, it used to not show this, play the sound nicely and the video in low frame rate. Just like VLC still does. Something must happened after some uninstall/install tryouts. )

* the file path
Thanks so far! -
Try just install Real Alternative Lite, it should make your life easier. Google for it.

I though that K-Lite Mega Codec Pack was supposed to be better, but let's have a try -
-
That seems to work!
Now MPCHC plays the rmvb file smoothly
Thanks very much, namaiki!
Now, let me ask you a bonus question:
What would you suggest as a Blu-ray player? -
Probably just use what comes with your laptop or bundled with the Blu-Ray drive.
Personally, no idea as I still haven't adapted a Blu-Ray drive into any of my computers. -
Thanks again for all the help! Best regards!
