if you have a big list of sites in the restricted zone

    can anyone confirm?

is it automatic or do you need to change a setting?

(note: this topic is not about firefox, if your reply involves firefox please save it)

Never had any slowdown issues with IE8 and XP so I have no idea what you're referring to. Can you be more specific?

There was a confirmed severe slowdown problem in IE8 if you have a very large number of sites in the restricted zone - usually from Spybot S&D's "immunize" function or IE-SPYAD.

Google has lots of people claiming it's supposed to fix the problem - but no one actually confirming "I use spybot/ie-spyad, had this problem before, and no longer have it now"

I was using Spybot with immunization and I had that issue on Vista. When I removed IE8 from immunization, it was opening and closing faster. So if that is enough confirmation for you.
