Ok, so 7 is ok, i like the cover art downloader (saves me having to load another program when i get a new album) and i like the 3d cover viewer but..... where the hell does it store the images? I have tried loading up my WMP and the artwork that i downloaded with itunes does not appear.

Does anyone know why this is, I hate the fact that apple does things like this. can't they just make it compatable with other software. I guess the art work is stored in the mp3's in such a way that no other program can read the art work.

    Anyone.....

    X:\Documents and Settings\%user name%\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork

It is in a proprietary format.

Images are stored as an ID3v2 tag.

Now if only they stored my ratings as an ID3v2 tag because I lost about 4000 ratings when I moved to a different computer.

Dam, well in my opinion that cover art downloader is a waste of time, unless you want to use I-tunes and only I-tunes for the rest of your days.

Anyone know a way of getting I-tunes to save the art in the tag rather than the itunes dir

iTunes DOES save the art to the ID3v2 tag! Please re-read this thread (or better yet, re-read MY post).

That is why you shouldn't drop a 1MB .BMP as an album picture, because if you have 10 songs in the album you just increased your library size 10MB.

Probably because Apple is using a different ID3v2 tag for album art than Windows is using. Apple has done this before - the comment ID3v2 tag is a different ID3v2 tag than what Winamp uses.

If you don't believe me, add image art to the MP3 and watch the file size grow.

so its best to use a program like cover art downloaded that dl's the image seperatly, rather then using itunes or WMP.

Unfortunately I only use Winamp and iTunes (Winamp on my old computers, iTunes on my modern computers) so I only have experience with the iTunes album art feature.

If iTunes and WMP are really putting their album art in seperate ID3v2 tags then supporting album images in both means the image is being stored twice in the file, is it worth the extra disk space for that feature? I wouldn't think it's worth it, simply because I dislike WMP but everyone has different needs.
