I just downloaded from here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-11-worldwide-languages and did a full system image. Will report back tomorrow with the results. I am using IE 9 now
-
I haven't seen reports of bad behavior over at ars, well aside from the IE10/11 issues with NBR.

I upgraded my IE10 to IE11 this afternoon, in the hope of seeing improved compatibility. Alas, no noticeable differences; all those many, many websites that are broken in IE10 are still broken in IE11. Same crappy Metro scrollbar as in IE10, too, of course. I am moving more and more to Chrome. Not that I have a lot of love for Google, but at least their browser works most of the time, and it does respect Windows 7 interface conventions, and Microsoft's guidelines for same.
P.S.: I forgot to say, if you're still on IE9, you may want to stay there, at least if you're interested in being able to browse most of the web. Going to IE10, you're going to lose a lot of websites that will no longer work. As jus one example, the editor you use when composing posts on this site was broken a little in IE10; with IE11 it now becomes close to unusable, missing keystrokes constantly. As a demonstration I have sopped correcting those missed keystrokes in tis entenc. Aeome, isn't it?
P.P.S.: Seriosly, loking at this piece of gabge that Internet Explorer has urned into, aprt from the disaster that is Windows 8.x, I really wonder whathashappened to Microsoft God alighty, how hard can it be to come up with a browser that actually wrks? Sheesh... -
I always thought IE was for the computer illiterate. And even there, the Chrome Ads on google.com are enough to pursuade a non-techie to switch.
Last time i used IE was when i got my laptop and i used it to download Firefox. -

IE 9, 10, and 11 are nothing like the bad old days of IE 6. -
I don't know what the crackheads at M$ are doing, but it seems that each new iteration of IE breaks compatibility with more websites. Forums that used to work fine for me back when I was using IE 8 on Windows 7 went haywire when I migrated to IE 10 and Windows 8. All the forum tools, formatting, etc. stopped working properly. Even with Compatibility View, these websites still weren't 100%. It's just a royal pain in the a**.
Thankfully, I switched my main browser to Firefox long ago, and then again to Chrome a couple years back.
Which each new release of IE, M$ always touts the improved performance and speed. The running joke about this is that it allows you to download Chrome/Firefox/Opera/*alternative browser of choice* faster. -
I have no real issues with missing keystrokes with IE 10 or 11. Then again this is on a pretty strong DTR and on a weaker ULV etc. this may not be the case. it doesn't seem I visit many sites where at least compatibility mode fixes most if not all issues.............

Updated my Desktop and Laptop to IE11 and so far no problems looks and acts like IE10 that I had before.....

P.S.: The situation with that crappy Metro scrollbar can be improved somewhat by customizing it. You can create a custom css file that redefines a few of the colors, and have that used by IE by configuring it in Internet Options->Accessibility, then check "Format documents using my style sheet". An example for the contents of the ccs file is below; you can customize any of these colors to your liking:
html {
scrollbar-base-color: #aeaec7;
scrollbar-arrow-color: black;
scrollbar-track-color: #e4e4f2;
scrollbar-shadow-color: black;
scrollbar-lightshadow-color: black;
scrollbar-darkshadow-color: gray;
scrollbar-highlight-color: white;
scrollbar-3dlight-color: black;
} -
Not to hijack this thread but I would like to make a comment about IE also. I have found that when buying a ticket on line for a football game, stage plays, music events, etc. ONLY IE will work. It seems that the webmasters for those events seem to code for IE only. Those sites never work with Firefox. Yes, you can get into the sites but when you try to actually purchase a ticket and pick a seat then it will not work in Firefox.

Before I even consider it I will give it some time and see more posts of how it works with everything. I pretty much live on goggle chrome because Im tired of IE10 crashing or not functioning correctly on Phpbb forums. I can use any other browser and it works. Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc.

EDIT: I have never had missed keystrokes on any forum, including NBR, and I'm using IE11 on a ULV Ivy Bridge i3. Didn't have that issue with IE10 either. What I do sometimes have is, when I first edit a post, certain words appear duplicated (they appear on the end of a line AND the beginning of the next line), but as soon as I put my cursor in the edit window and start typing, this resolves. -
I too have Chrome and Pale Moon but both are rarely used. I know there are others who would rather use just about anything other than IE, myself I can understand it I just don't subscribe to that thought.
IE for all of its versions has pretty much just worked. I haven't had the major issues some other have. This is not discounting their issues as I am sure they are there. I just have been lucky enough not to have them. I do have the text duplicating issue that disappears too though with the edit window.
Off topic, since mentioned, I do not use the $ sign in "MS" to be funny but in light of recent issues I can see where some others might be trying to be funny with it. as I've stated I have always used the abbreviation in this manner since the DOS only days and even before the GUI. I doubt I was the first or only back then either. The usage came from the early days when the hobbyists became business men and the unrelenting push from M$ to obliterate any competition back then.
Back on topic, I would like to see some of these sites where something is broken. Maybe I just skip over it not knowing what I am missing................ -
~~ OFF topic what do you people use for a spell checker that integrates with IE 11 and/or Win 7 -

IE 10 spell checked for me by default. This is the same for IE11 as well. It will do the same and place a red line under misspelt words but on occasion will instead do a word replacement. This at times can be annoying when you type a word wrong then it is replaced by a word you did not intend................
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Funny, IE never spellchecked for me. I've been on 11 since the beta, and until recent upgrade to a full 11 I had no spellcheck.
As for browser itself, I'm beginning to like IE more and more. I'm now using FF and IE about 50/50. In 11 beta there were some stuff broken, but now it seems MS fixed every issue I had.JOSEA likes this. -
Thanks a lot Guys, bad spellings are underlined in red now and right click context menu works great for correshions (Just kidding) I used to go to Bing and check my spellings there via online dictionaries.
Indrek you are absolutely correct about add-ons .... -

Just downloaded it IE 11.
Cheers

P.S.: It's related to the spelling correction. If I turn spelling correction off, then everything is fine. With spelling correction, the editor here becomes unusable. In fact, it turns out that spelling correction by itself goes bonkers here: Almost every word I click on starts blinking with a red underline, claiming the word is repeated... Note that this only happens when I edit a post of mine. If I write a new post then there's no issue. -

-
If I switch to Basic or Standard editor the issue is resolved. (Spelling correction is turned on during all my tests) -
P.S.: Well, I tried, anyway. It says that I "must spread some reputation around" first. -
Let's see..............
I am in the editor mode and while I am not getting all the weirdness it is skipping characters if I use the Advanced. I have to laugh as when I first read the post I thought he was referring to browser settings not the boards, a D'oh moment............
Second edit; under the advanced editor for some reason it would not allow me to add to rep as I could not type a reason. -
