So I need to use IE 7 to view a specific webpage that neither IE 8 nor Firefox are able to do.

However, after installing IE 7 (IE 8 was removed, of course), the program shows no signs of having installed itself! No desktop icons appear. In fact, even if I go to the add/remove programs list, IE doesn't show! The odd thing is that if I go into "Program Files", Internet Explorer is clearly there. However, clicking on the shortcut (either in Program Files or in the Start Menu) fails to open the program.

Even more confusing, if I download and install IE 8, everything works perfectly.

If I go to delete "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer", it tells me that the program is currently being accessed and cannot be deleted (more specifically the "Communications" folder is being accessed).

After making a shortcut to it's location and trying to uninstall with Revo Uninstaller, I get the following error:

    "No Installation Package Found!
TIP: Get more info for the application from the main windows and try to uninstall it manually!
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

Any and all help is appreciated! All of this is in XP SP3.

IE8 has compatibility mode which uses IE6/7 engine IIRC.
A website that doesn't work with IE8, firefox, Opera is one that you should not visit, it's probably exploiting some security hole, or is VERY VERY VERY VERY badly designed, and just hit the webmaster in the head to make him go out of his cave and realize that IE 6 and IE7 is long dead.

That was along the lines of what I was thinking, thanks.
