Thanks! I've been checking the website on and off today to see if they were going to offer it today or not.
-
Thanks for the update!
Just installed and is running/looking good just like the version on Vista. -
Thanks for the update! Downloading now... albeit very slowly.
-
I'm using IE7 RC1 since it came out...finally IE came back up to Firefox standards. Still, Firefox is my dominant browser.
-
God I hate dial-up... only an hour and a half left
-
Looks exactly that same to me. Seems to run a little faster, but that might be just in my head.
-
Thanks. Downloading.
Cheers,
Ivan -
New ie looks really nice and is working fast (while opening, browsing, etc. For me it's faster than FF). This is my 1st impression
-
im downloading now and it only takes one minute
-
It is fast. Faster than FF. I also added inline search add-on and now IE7 is definitely my browser no 1. FF 2.0rc3 is still here, but only for testing purposes.
Printpreview is great.
Toolbars are not so good. I read that "IE Next" will have redesigned toolbars.
Inline search addon is same like FF. I love it.
Quicktabs is also great.
Fullscreen is good too.
So far so good. There is no reason for not having this browser installed. At least for testing.
Cheers,
Ivan -
Installing on my notebook right now
-
This is the email I sent to friends...
"AREN'T YOU GUYS EXCITED?! THE NEW INTERNET EXPLORER IS OUT NOW! IT'S SOOOOO COOL! IT HAS TAAAABED BROWSING, AND AND AND A SEARCH FEATURE ON THE RIGHT, AND EVEN A STREAMLINED INTERFACE SO YOU CAN SEE MORE OF THE WEBPAGE INSTEAD OF A BUNCH OF BUTTONS ON TOP! WOWEY WOWEY WOW!!!
what a joke"
In other words, I hate when non-innovation is seen by the mass general public as innovation. -
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought it was faster
IE7 might be faster than FF under windows, but FF under linux is the fastest browser I ever used. -
All internet browsers allows us to do this or that ... all mail clients allows us to check mail accounts via pop3 or imap, check the newsgroups etc. ... 99% (if not a 100%) of DVD copying (backup) software allow us to split one 2-layer disk to the 1-layer 4.7 GB disk ..
There are some standards / user-friendly solutions, and new IE now has a lot of them, right ? -
-
IE7 has amazing CSS support. It is now my no. 1 browser. I just don't know for how long, because it's probably gonna be another 5 years before MS release IE8 or something.
-
I'm really suprised to see so much support for IE7. I figured there would be a lot of the Firefox faithful on here wh*ring up the thread talking about how IE would never reach the level of FF. But I'm glad no one is. Anyways, I've yet to download the final version. I'm still using RC1. I've been using my Linux computer for the past couple of days primarily, but the next time I'm in Windows, I'll download it and see if it's any good. I've had good experiences with IE7 since it was a Beta, but I've never switched to it completely. Personally, I hate the UI in XP. In Vista, it fits perfectly, but in XP it's just ugly IMO. But if it really is faster, I may try switching to it.

Weird, FF seems faster to me...
Anyways, im sticking with FF, I prefer it, an FF 2.0 is gonna pwn. -

That's what, under two days before the first exploit is found?
Oh yeah, get the fasterfox plugin and set it to the uber-fast setting. Makes things rediculously speedy. -
I am not really surprised that flaws have already been discovered. You have to remember it is MS.
I think I will just stick with trusty FF although I have been thinking about switching to Opera.
Tim -
Yeah, apparently this is an unpatched exploit from IE6, as well.
"We heard you, you wanted it easier and more secure."
riiiiight -
I just went to the download site and my anti-virus popped up an alert that something on the page was trying to install malicious software. WTH? Is Microsoft celebrating the launch of IE7 by testing other browser's security?
-
HOLY COW!!! I like the fasterfox plugin.
Can anyone comment on the uninstall ability of IE7? I am thinking of installing it but want to check it's uninstallable because some sites I have to browse insist on IE 6. -
Hey, found out that it's not compatable with Cisco's Clean Access Agent (pain in the ass program) that our University uses. So if your univ or work uses it, don't install it
as FF can't authenticate through CCA either.
Just FIY. -
Just tried to open the same tabs in a page on IE7 and in Firefox and IE7 uses more mem usage. Not really sure if anyone really cares.
Another thing that I have noticed is that the display in IE seems to be more grainy than in FF, no idea why that is or if that can be fixed but it's another difference I have seen. -
im using ie7 now and i have to say its ok, only new thing to me is the tab thing which i find useful
-
IE7 is working pretty well for me at the moment. I heard rumours that FireFox 2 is coming out in a few weeks too?
-
Uh...I installed IE7...and it just totally disappeared from my laptop
. I tried it a second time to no avail either (and yes, I restarted my computer...) I'm gonna try again. If it doesn't work, then I'm just sticking with firefox.
-
I'm using them in conjunction as we speak. And I don't know what version your school uses, but I use Opera (primarily), Firefox, and IE7. All work just great with CCAA. Tell your school to upgrade, they'll have to soon anyway. -
Firefox still for me. I dislike how I can't customize IE7 to minimize the toolbars. I'd really prefer to move everything onto one line to increase the webpage space. I find the fullpage option too irritating. Plus I like Foxy Tunes on the menu bar.
-
I've tried a rc a month or two ago, and I didn't find it any good.
I used to get virus' all the time until I started using firefox, and I never found one reason to switch back.
IE7 isn't entirely bad. I'm not sure how it does security-wise. Speed is decent, barely faster, if at all faster than firefox. I hate how you can't middle click the navigation buttons (back/forward, home, bookmarks)
I can't browse anymore without the firefox plugins. I really couldn't ask a lot more out of a internet browser. I have my handy gmail notifier on the bottem right, my menu bar is compacted into a drop down menu to the right end of my bookmarks toolbar for maximum viewing space. search bar that I heavily rely on for ebay/thesaurus/dictionary/etc searching. I've also become heavily dependant on the 'mouse gestures' plugin.
I pulled out IE once in a while to check page layouts, and how html codes show up on both browsers, until I found the IE View plugin.
Extremely stable, and loads fast. Never had it crash.
Unless IE adapts to all of this very soon, I don't think I'll be using it any time soon. -
it slows my laptop .. wonder why i'm gonna uninstall it and reinstall again and check it out others ill stick to Avant or maybe firefox
-
<---- hates IE7
-
Yay, finally got IE7 to install...
So what's this FireFox plugin some people are talking about? Link please? Can't seem to find what it is exactly. -
Fasterfox

I've been using FF for a long while now, but I really like IE7, enough to switch to it as my day-to-day browser. I love the better printing, but most of all, for me, on a 15in widescreen laptop (most websites have characters too small to read easily), the killer feature is the new zoom. One, because I always use a wireless mouse, i can just zoom up to 125% by clicking at the right bottom. With FF, I have to go to the keyboard and press control-+ (or go into a menu). Second, it zooms everything the same, and it doesn't break the look of the page while doing it. At higher zooms, graphics pixelate, but I only need 125% for readability anyway. I also like how the new Favorites sidebar hides by itself until it's needed. I don't like clutter on my browser. It all just seems simple, straightforward and clean. From what I can tell so far, it still allows more tracking cookies to come in than FF does, but these are easily removed at the end of the day, and frankly, all these do is to tailor advertising for you. These aren't viruses.
-
^^^
Just use Advance options "Prompt for session(site) cookies" & "Block all third party cookies" and that should be good enough.
FF just prompts you more. -
could this browser be prone to virus attacks?
I'm a bit hesistant to download it after the first few days of the release given the many Microsoft haters our there. -
"1st Microsoft IE7 Security Flaw Reported. Less than 24 hours after browser’s debut..."
not quite sure how true that was
cheers ... -
why all of u people like firefox so much? i personally prefer opera, but its a matter of preference i guess.. anyway, ie7 is a great way to get a glimpse on what to expect from vista. so far i like it! especially the quick tab function. i really hate the nagging that the software brings though... i mean, say if u want to save/paste a picture from a website, you drag it on your desktop/folder then there is this dialog "do you want to move or copy files from this zone?" i mean, thats hell annoying, how come safari on my mac didn't nag me in such a way?
great improvent over the (ancient) ie6 though
IE 7 released!
