Hey all, I was just browsing on NBR at the new Toshiba Satellite P305 review and I tried clicking the link for the HD Tune benchmark, when suddenly it froze.

After about 5~10 seconds, it went back to normal, only that I couldn't do ANYTHING in that tab. If I try selecting text, nothing happens, clicking links, nothing happens, scrolling up and down, nothing happens, back and forward navigation, nothing happens, even typing in a new webpage, nothing happens. Heck I can't even close the tab. Basically the whole tab has become non-functioning because I clicked that ONE link.

I've NEVER had this happen to me before until JUST now, when I clicked on that ONEE link.... Is this probably a bug with IE 8?

It's not even a "please try this out and report bugs to us" kind of beta.
They don't intend for people to use it.

It's for developers to test how their own sites work.

Really? LOL wow I stupidly went and downloaded it thinking I was so cool! HAHA well I'll just be uninstalling it then and reinstalling IE 7.

Seriously, it's f**king buggy like hell, half the time it works, half the time it doesn't.

Lol illegal operations? What happened exactly? I never got any of those... So far I've just had constant random "Internet Explorer has encountered an error and needs to restart" about 23408348509342394 times per day, buggy webpages, encountering errors, being extremely slow, shutting down randomly, getting errors and restarting, restarting randomly, ending and not restarting at all, ending and restarting and ending then restarting again, and a whole lot more. Did I mention that it closes and restarts once in a while?

I've never had it say "illegal operaion" lol :p

It happened to me on pages with lots of Flash and youtube vids. It would simply stop working and windows would give me the illegal operation message. Oh, the error and restart thingie is like oxygen with that beta. FF 3 was like that when it first came out :p. Screwed up my whole FF2 and bookmarks. Luckily I made a copy ;). Funny enough, the auto-backup was screwed too from FF2.

m$ would love to have these "experiences"/feedback sent into the devs. They love to play with them at the moment. Or better yet, u can always send the errors direct to the sites in question. That will get the website devs going.

side note on the usage (testing) of IE8 beta -
. haven't got a single illegal operations messages since the start
    . haven't got a single slow down
. a few restart and locks when hitting few "bad" sites, reverting to IE7 simulation works well for these "bad" sites
. more about personal experiences with IE8 beta in http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3436363#post3436363

    cheers ...
