Hi folks,
I have Vista Home Premium, SP1, 64-Bit and I am running IE7 in 32-bit.
In the last couple of days my Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) crashes and it says it wants to get restarted ...
I can't quite put my finger on the time when this problem started ... if it was after a Special program installation.
Now the only thing that I can recall installing couple days back was the Vista Codec Pack 5.3.6 and the X64 version of it 2.0.5.
Q1: What is casuing this problem of IE7 Crashing & Restarting?
Q2: How can I fix this problem?
Or should I just do System Restore back to couple days back!?!?
Thanks,
G!![]()

If I were a betting man, I would say it is Adobe Flash, in combination with IE7 and vista 64bit.
I've been around and around with this problem on a variety of machines and that combination always seems to result in this. Disable/remove flash and see if the problem goes away.
Microsoft moved on to ie8, Adobe doesn't care so it is never going to get fixed.
Upgrade to ie8 unless there is a reason not to (I know some people who use web apps that will not work with ie8) -
Hi gerryf19,
My readings and searches so far pointed to what you mentioned ... so I uninstalled "Adobe Flash Player" using their tool .. but did not fix my problem.
I just happen to get an alarm from Micorsoft by chance that my "Comodo Verification Engine" .dll causing a crash.
So, I uninstalled my "Comodo Verification Engine 2.7.0.24" which I had upgraded yesterday or the day before ... from 2.7.0.22 to 2.7.0.24.
I think that was the problem ... but we'll see ... I will post back in a day or 2 when I try all different web pages to make sure that was the problem.
BTW, heck I have no use for this Comodo Add-on which really to me has proved to be USELESS. It does NOT do anything with Malicious or Bad Sites ... except with Knwon Sites like Google to give you the nice Green color Glow on the edges ... so like I said is useless ... WOT is the ONLY way to go for Browser Protection.
THANKS for your Help!
G!
