I have a AMD Turion 64 processor and I am trying to install IE7 64 on my laptop. When I try to install it tells me "not a valid Win32 application."

I got the same error when I tried to install Vista 64 version.

Have you tried the 32 bit version (WinXP SP2)?

Do I need to install the x32 then install the x64?

    The x32 is installing fine.

I believe you have to have a 64 bit OS to run 64 bit apps. Running them in 32 bit architecture isn't something that will work.

I'd run the x32 for now until someone finds a definite answer.

Just because you have a 64bit processor does not mean you can just run 64 bit programs. You have to install Windows XP 64 or a copy of Linux that is 64 bit.
You CAN install 32 bit programs on a 64 bit OS though.

    **edit**
just noticed that you said your running XP pro. You cannot install 64 bit apps on XP pro.
