An application that we use at work can only work on IE, however its optimized to work on IE6. I'm using IE7 because I upgraded my machine to Vista. I tinkered with the security settings, and now the application works fine; however, each time I bring up a browser window, IE has to remind me that my security settings put my computer at risk. Is there any way to turn that durned notification off? Its getting on my nerves; I've looked but cant find a way to disable it.

Well, what setting did you change that it's warning you about?
You may be able to use IE's security zones, and only adjust the setting for the site hosting the app you need to use. (Tools > Internet options > Security > Trusted sites)
Another workaround would be to use Firefox for everything except this web app. -
what settings have u messed up with in IE ?. Lemme suggest something that might work . in IE7 go to tools>>internet options>>security>>(turn off the protected mode by unchecking the tick box at the bottom)
alternatively u can keep the protected mode enabled and go for the custom levels button. here u can find settings for a lot of prompts. if u know hwich prompt is appearing, u can disable it here
to know whats protected mode : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/details/ie7protectedmode.mspx -
I only use IE for this site, and it wont work in FF. Its basically Active-X controls which need to be enabled. I had turned off Protected mode, but that didnt work (it just brought up another menu in the Security Warning that Protected Mode was turned off). I found a way to turn it off in gpedit.msc, but for some reason the site still is a bit off. I guess I'll just have to tinker around with the settings some more, or just deal with the security warning. Its only for 1 site, so I guess its not that big a deal
