i found this cool article on cnet.com
-
i tried firefox 2 for 5 minutes after that i uninstalled it back to opera
-
I disagree about round 3 (tabs). I think explorer does a cleaner job of tabbing and tabbing options.
-
Still using Firefox
-
I like FF but I think that article was a little biased.
I still think FF is the best but IE is much closer to FF than they were with IE 6.
Tim -
I disagree with CNET too. Internet Explorer 7 deserves much more than CNET says about them. While I'm not going to change to Internet Explorer 7 from Firefox, you have to commend Microsoft for their great improvements from IE6.
By the way, I don't like Firefox 2 for some reason. I guess I'm too accustomed to Firefox 1.5, that I don't want to change, where a lot of the visuals are changed. -
Heh smartsam, I thought the same thing:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3479/ -
Thanks for the find, iOsiris! I'll definitely get FF2 now
-
i too think that CNET pole is biased. though i still like FF better than IE7.
The IE7 bug is getting on my nerves, every time i close IE it crashes!!!!! -
Im not one to flame IE...I use it a lot as well as Firefox (my primary). Its just that when I got 7...it crashed on me, while I have had FF2 since it came out and hasn't crashed once.
Plus all the fancy IE style makes it slow to load and all. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
yup, im still using FF 2.0, its great!
-
FF, I.E. sercuity is a bit off, but rly thet r almost alike, but when going to history I.E. sorts everything out for you, ive used both and i prefer FF2
-
IE has always been my main browser and it still is. I have both FF & Opera installed and use them occasionally but both never really came close to becoming my main browser.
-
I use IE mainly because I get frustrated when I go to a site that only works with IE. I have tried everything from Firefox and even Netscape but I find myself always going back to IE and I do like IE 7.

i love the new Firefox updates, the restore session is great, close x's on each tab. lots and lots of little stuff that really makes a difference.
-
Firefox is my one and only. I too was annoyed by the problem of pages not working with FF, and I still come across them occasionally. But there is a great extension out there called IE Tab. You put it up like next to the home icon, and when you find a page that dosent work with FF, it converst what your FF browser into an IE browser, and the pages work. Your tabs stay there too. Then once your done with that page, click it again, and you have 100% FF again, tabs and all still there. It is one of my top 3 most used extensions, along with Forcast Fox and No Script. I truly love FF, and I think I will use it forever.
-
screw them both OPERA all the way!
-
Yeah get the extension IE Tab. It is wonderful because I never have to use IE to download things from Microsoft. Instead I use IE Tab to "trick" Microsoft into allowing me to download stuff from their site while using FF.
Tim -
firefox with ie tab > all but thats just me
-
LOL darth_laidher, you're still promoting Opera in a non-Opera related thread.
I just use Firefox and IE7 together. If it doesn't show up in Firefox, I just switch to IE7. -
Does this mean FF 3.0 is comming out soon? Maybe it's for Vista and will release months after?
From the IE Tab download.
-
lol sorry usapatriot bugged when he said he uninstalled opera after 10 minutes so i had to do it lol wont do it again(cross's fingers lol)
-
I still use FF as my main browser for a couple of reasons. First, I use Linux, which features only Firefox. Second, I have been using it for years and feel more comfortable with it. I also like themes, and have been using the Noia eXtreme theme since I downloaded FF1. And the IE7 look in XP is ugly as hell IMHO. Now, in Vista, I use IE7 because it integrates with the UI a lot better.
That being said, I had a lot of problems with Firefox 1.5 crashing for a while. That was later remedied thankfully. Beyond that, tabs are handled much better in IE7 to be honest. I just don't like tabs in Firefox now that I've used IE7. Security seems to be a lot closer to Firefox. Like I said, in XP and Linux, I use Firefox. But in Vista, it's IE7 all the way.
And Opera is good, but I'm not a fan of Opera 9. I liked 8 a lot better. I just can't see myself switching. -
i stoped using FF along time ago i hate it
-
I agree with the people here who said that the review was very bias, I personally think IE7 looks much better than FF2.0 also that 'clear text' is very easy on the eyes especially after hours and hours worth of research and reading I do on my notebook.
-
That review was terrible. It was so bias... Even though we can all agree that IE isn't a fantastic web browser they certainly deserve credit for the changes they made.
And the review picked out the little things from IE...
-
I installed Firefox 2.0 but it really slowed down my computer so I went back to 1.5 until I can figure out why. Also like the new IE7, but love my Firefox.
-
I still love FF 1.5.0.x series over FF 2.0
-
Yeah, a biased review. But I still prefer FF over IE7. Actually I can't really stand the new IE7 interface, but thats just me.
-
I like them both, but using IE7 as the main browser.
Some interesting things I saw while using them recently:
1. When a new Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 final was released I tried to download it with IE7 - it ended up in 5 kB/s on my 1Mbit link. So I used Free download manager which did the thing right. Afterwards I tried that with FF - and it also downloaded it at full speed. I tried it two times on my comp and the result was the same.
2. Many sites using .Net aspx pages won't work correctly in FF. I mean I can see things properly, I can log on, do some advanced stuff, but now and then I see things like calculation not performed, or button missing etc... It is funny when I wanted to buy a notebook and did everything in configurator and the price was still zero.

I used Firefox more than IE due to Firefox are more efficient at blocking unwanted popups.
-
adblock and noscript is enough for FF to win over IE7. (of course noscript is not user friendly so unless you know what your doing most sites wouldn't show up properly - but heck it blocks a ton of possible advertisement scripts)
-
I had gone back to FF 1.5 and today that quit working, so I said to heck with it and just reinstalled 2.0 and now it's working just fine. Not slow at all. Yay!!!
