I hope its better than the Beta 2 - its horrid on my old Medion XP.
And I couldn't instal IE7 after installing SP3 ... (XP)
Thanks for the link and the "heads up" -

I am on it now and it is FAST! Much faster than the Beta, and has other improvements, like typing in the search bar actually shows bookmarks now. I like it, not as much as Chrome or Firefox, but it is a great improvement over the Beta. Now all I need is it to be released to Windows 7.
It still never auto logs in at sites it is suppossed to remeber my info on. -
Just got it installed on Vista (64-bit) and so far it's noticably faster than beta 2 was. Most likely they removed the internal debugging code that is typically used in beta builds, which would certainly improve performance by itself.
Now that I think about it though, even the beta 2 build was just as fast as IE7 was. -
Indeed, noticeable improvements. Let's hope it stays that way.

That is good news.

Hopefully M$ can keep this streak of "making things actually good" (compared to the predecessors at least) and come out with a few great products in the near future (ex. Win7, Office 14).

Has anyone used IE8 in Windows 7 beta to compare it to?
I found IE8 Beta 2 on Vista much slower than the build of IE8 in 7, which seems lightning fast.

Can't wait to try it out when I get home. I was really impressed by Beta2, would like to see if the Firefox team is going to react.
-
I'll wait till the final release. RC's are still in the testing phase and have to uninstall it later anyways.

I installed it and I must say that it runs very nice. It is fast and stable and I have not had any issues displaying any websites.

Just installed IE8, it's much faster than IE7.

I just downloaded the new IE8-RC1, and now have a problem I didn't have with IE8-Beta -- the new IE8-RC1 is running with add-ons disabled, and I can't figure out how to change it to have it run with add-ons enabled. There is a yellow Active X information bar at the top of EVERY page of EVERY website I go to -- (really annoying!!!) that says "Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled.)
In the Start Menu, the only IE option is the one with add-ons disabled. There's no option to change it in the C Drive either, and I tried to turn off the Information Bar, but the system wouldn't let me. I even tried to uninstall IE8 and reinstall it, but IE doesn't even show up in the Programs and Features Menu. I'm really stumped. Can anyone please tell me how to switch over to IE running with add-ons?

i will install the final ie8 and won't use it for anything.
i had the ie8 beta installed but not really used. one day i thought uhh lets try, and i browsed around news.google.com reading some news articles. when opening a new tab, it started to create new windows instead of 1 new tab. it didn't stop, and because it now spans a new process per window/tab, i had in seconds 1000nds of processes spawned, and no chance to stop it.
somehow, ie knows i prefer firefox. it doesn't like me at all
edit: and yes, i had to hard reset, and yes, my windows didn't liked it and messed up its boot process, and YES IT COULD NOT RECOVER. happily, have a windows home server, and could write back the backup. -
BTW, since you are using vista, you have to go into programs and features, then look in the upper left corner (installed MS updates, or something like that), IE8 RC1 should be in there. Then you can uninstall it. Sorry, I'm at work on XP machine or I would be more precise. Good luck.
Edit: This link addresses compatibility issues, and explains how to uninstall it if you choose.

I saw you over there too, and I'm glad he was able to solve your issue as well. Thanks for the compatibility link -- makes the transition so much easier.

I have an issue with scrolling in IE8 RC1 with Vista. The scrolling is not smooth with the mouse wheel with pages containing lots of graphics. Doed anyone else have this?

FAIL. It crashes a lot and won't even print properly for me. IE8 Beta 2 printed fine btw. Far too many websites are also completely borked.
Just FAIL browser now. Can't compete with Firefox or Chrome in a million years.
Internet Explorer 8 = FAIL -
You say it crashes a lot - randomly or when you view Flash videos for example?
Printing - could it be that the "link" to your printer was broken during the instal? -
booo i dont like it. runs very slow for me. and why all the need for all the set up?
IE8 RC1 now available
