Disclaimer: I LIKE and am comfortable with IE, so please don't turn this into a "OMG, you should use Firefox, Opera etc." thread. ;)

I have downloaded and installed this and I like it for the most part. The only thing I don't like and it is a biggie, is the address bar. I am wondering if the address bar can be configured to be like IE7, so when you drop down the address bar, there are X amount of "favorite" sites to click on and navigate to. As in IE7 and previous, there are separate history and favorite tabs, so why put this in the address bar section. They change constantly as it is currently set up. It seems like they are trying to "read my mind" too much. I can type ONE letter in the address window and whatever I want pops up in a list, but that requires an extra step. Should just be a mouse click the way I am used too.

I realize I can configure favorites to do the same thing as I am asking, but I would rather have a nice, tidy drop down address window like always. Thanks in advance.

I recently had IE8 Beta installed. Lasted 24 hours. I found it extremely buggy (thus being beta) and certain forums, including NBR, would not function correctly with things like the Search menu and such. The worst was cut & pasting an url into a new tabbed window's address bar would crash IE completely.

Needless to say I uninstalled it last night.

And yes, I am one of the few that prefer IE over FF as well.

I have looked in the tools section, but may have missed it.

Also, it has a GREAT webpage compatibility button right next to the refresh button that alleviates issues like you were having Signal. It talks about using this in the release notes. I was having trouble doing exactly what you were talking about on this site, until I remembered this feature. And it has helped immensely on other sites as well.

Thanks to you both for replying though.

LOL! I guess I'll have to give IE8 another shot then. I usually never bother reading the Release Notes on anything and admittedly never noticed the compatibility button. +1 rep for you for showing me the error of my ways. ;)

IE8 is a total revamp of the IE package, the address bar is now packed with many features that one can learn and takes full potential of it.

One link that I found quite informative:

    cheers ...
