The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    IE8 install problems? my solution

    just posting this in case it helps others. I have a 64 bit version of Vista. I had changed my registry keys for the program files path to get rid of the (x86) part of the path. So both 64 bit and 32 bit paths pointed to c:\program files

    In order to properly install IE8, I had to change the default paths back to include (x86). Then it worked okay. took me a while to figure out why the darn thing wasn't working
